Visual inspection is the simplest, fastest and most effective NDT method, based on direct inspection of visible indications. It is the essential first step for the safety and quality of welds.

Main applications:

  • Detection of open discontinuities on the surface

  • Inspecting hard-to-reach areas

Types of examinations:

  • Direct: naked eye

  • Indirect: with magnifying glasses, endoscope, calipers
